Crickhowell Music Festival
Posted: 23rd April 2024As for the last 28 years, the Crickhowell Music Festival will take place over the early May Bank Holiday – that’s 3rd-6th May this year.
Headline pieces include C.P.E. Bach’s Magnificat (not to be confused with his Dad, J.S.) and Purcell’s simply magical Ode for St Cecilia’s Day, though there is much more to look forward to. Both the Saturday event, Music’s Muse and the Sunday event, Surprising Revelations, are being held at St Edmund’s Church, Crickhowell.
The choir doesn’t completely rule the roost. World renowned soloists will join Crickhowell Choral Society on Saturday and Sunday, and to start proceedings on Friday is a Welsh folk evening at the Clarence Hall with the legendary trio, VRï. Monday concludes the Festival with The Egg, a one-act opera written by former Choral Society Scholar, Tomos Jones, and featuring a treasured collection of emerging talent. This is also being performed at the Clarence Hall.
