May Street Opera
Posted: 29th February 2024Join us for the final event in this year’s Crickhowell Music Festival at the Clarence Hall on Monday, 6 May at 3pm with a performance by May Street Opera, a South Wales company dedicated to creating accessible operatic experiences.
Complementing the heavenly theme of this year’s Festival, the event will feature Tomos Owen Jones’ The Egg, a one-act cantata based on Andy Weir’s famous story, “You were on your way home when you died”. It’s an uplifting tale that describes the human condition, from life to death and beyond. Full of wit and insight, Tom’s piece charts an individual’s intriguing musical tutorial with his creator that is both lyrical and enchanting.
The Egg is performed alongside Britten’s Canticle II, a dramatic retelling of the story of Abraham and Isaac.
Both performances will feature former Choral Scholars.
Refreshments will be available as part of the performance.
Click here for tickets, but you can also buy them from choir members, on the door, and at Webbs of Crickhowell.
