Raising funds for Cancer Research Wales
Posted: 14th September 2026Music has long played an important part in fundraising across Crickhowell, bringing people together while supporting causes that touch so many families. On Friday, 2 October, that tradition continues when The Black Rat Effect returns to the Clarence Hall for another evening of live music in aid of Cancer Research Wales.
The concert forms part of the outstanding work of the Crickhowell Cancer Research Wales Committee. Since it was established, the committee has raised over £178,000 through a programme of concerts, walks, fashion shows and community events. It’s a remarkable achievement, made possible by the generosity of local people, businesses, volunteers and performers who continue to support the charity year after year.
The Black Rat Effect has become a popular favourite with Clarence Hall audiences. Following previous successful appearances, the band returns with its trademark blend of energetic live music, creating an evening that’s as enjoyable as it is worthwhile.
Every ticket sold will help Cancer Research Wales continue funding world-class research here in Wales. As the independent Welsh cancer research charity, it invests in pioneering research, new treatments and earlier diagnosis to improve outcomes for people affected by cancer across the country. This year also marks the charity’s 60th anniversary, celebrating six decades of supporting life-changing research in Wales.
