A showcase of original music from The Will Barnes Quartet
Posted: 20th November 2023On Saturday, 18 November, we were delighted to host The Will Barnes Quartet at the Clarence Hall as part of their ‘Source of the Severn’ album tour.
Joining Will Barnes (guitar) on stage were James Batten (drums), Jack Gonsalez (piano) and Clovis Phillips (bass) – a tight collective of highly experienced jazz instrumentalists.
It was a tremendous evening, with the talented quartet delighting the audience with a set list that included a mix of jazz standards together with a number of original compositions, inspired by the landscape of Mid-Wales and the Marches.
In an unusual collaboration, the musical performance was accompanied by a live visual show featuring artwork from skilled landscape artist, Erin Hughes.
