A spectacular start to the Festival
Posted: 3rd May 2025The Crickhowell Music Festival launched in fine style last night with a sell-out folk evening at Clarence Hall, presented by Crickhowell Choral Society. The audience was treated to an unforgettable performance by Avanc – a dynamic band of young traditional musicians from across Wales.
Avanc specialise in unearthing forgotten musical gems from ancient manuscripts and dusty library vaults, reworking them in their own energetic image. The results are electrifying! Their performance featured everything from Welsh jigs and reels to the thrilling rhythms of clog dancing – a first for the Clarence Hall – all delivered with passion, flair and exceptional musicianship.
No wonder this remarkable group was recently chosen to represent Wales at the prestigious Lorient InterCeltic Festival in Brittany. We are indeed fortunate to have welcomed them to Crickhowell.
A brilliant opening to the Festival – and there’s so much more to come!
