Age Cymru Powys – keeping people mobile!
Posted: 23rd May 2022The Clarence Hall is home to a wide range of organisations who utilise its facilities on a regular basis. In this feature, we look at Age Cymru Powys.
Age Cymru Powys run a monthly ‘Simply Nails’ footcare service at the Clarence Hall to help the over 50s stay comfortable on their feet.
Keeping mobile is really important; Simply Nails is a toenail cutting service for people who have difficulty cutting their toenails for any reason. The team of trained staff and volunteers will have you feeling on top of the world again!
There is a small fee for each appointment and you will have to purchase your own toenail cutting kit from Age Cymru Powys. They will need to know about your general health and any medication that you are taking, but this will all be dealt with during the initial phone call.
The Simply Nails team works in conjunction with the Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) Podiatry Service and all of the staff and volunteers are trained by PTHB. Simply Nails helps prevent dangerous falls and associated social isolation. It supports PTHB by offering an affordable alternative for clients to maintain good foot health.
Nail-cutting is by appointment only, so please call Age Cymru Powys on 01686 623707 to register.
The Simply Nails footcare service is not for profit, so every time you pay for a service, you’re supporting their charitable work across Powys.
Look after your feet and they will look after you!
Can you help with this service?
Volunteers are needed for toenail-cutting or booking appointments in Crickhowell. If you are able to spare 3 hours a month, then you could help older people to have less painful feet and keep active with less chance of having a fall. Simply Nails hold regular training days for new footcare volunteers and provide full training, expenses and a great sense of fun with their friendly teams! Please call Age Cymru Powys on 01686 623707 or email enquiries@acpowys.org.uk to find out more.
