Building resilience in young people

Event Date: 16/10/2025

Resilience is often described as a buzzword, but behind it lies something vitally important. The more resilient our young people are, the better they are able to cope with life’s stresses and challenges. The question is, how exactly can parents and teachers help children and teenagers to develop resilience?

A new four-week course at the Clarence Hall will explore practical and successful strategies that families and schools can use to build resilience in young people. The sessions will be interactive, informative and fun — and yes, there will be tea and chocolate biscuits!

The course runs on Thursday evenings, 2, 9, 16 and 23 October, from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Places are limited to 20 participants and the cost is £40 for the full four weeks.

The sessions will be led by Dr Emily Lovegrove — a researcher, author and psychologist, formerly lead on anti-bullying strategies for the Welsh Government and a specialist in supporting neuro-divergent teens.

Booking is on a first-come, first-served basis. To reserve a place, please email emilylovegrove@icloud.com.  More information is available at thebullyingdoctor.com.
