Celebrating our Poppy Appeal Collectors

Posted: 26th November 2021

Since the Royal British Legion was founded in 1921, its members, staff, volunteers and partners have dedicated their time and effort to supporting the Armed Forces community and remembering their sacrifice.

This year marks 100 years of the Royal British Legion and also saw the return of Poppy Appeal Collectors in our local communities.

On Thursday, 25 November, The Hon Dame Shân Legge-Bourke DCVO hosted the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal awards at the Clarence Hall, Crickhowell.

Award winners from local businesses were recognised and long service awards were presented to individual collectors.  The longest serving award winner of 45 years is featured in the photograph, together with fellow award winners at the event.

A presentation was also made to Dame Shân for her many years’ service as Poppy Appeal Co-ordinator as she retires from this role in 2021.

The Clarence Hall celebrates these hard working volunteers who support the Royal British Legion and its work.
