Celebrating Spring in Style
Posted: 17th April 2024Congratulations to the award-winning Abergavenny Borough Band and local community choir Cantorion Phoenix for an excellent afternoon of entertainment at their Celebrate Spring! concert at the Clarence Hall. The event raised funds for the Hall’s Refurbishment Fund and SSAFA.
A delighted audience thoroughly enjoyed a wide repertoire of band and choral music, performed both individually and combined. The joint performances of well-known favourites from the musicals My Fair Lady and Joseph provided lots of toe-tapping opportunities. In complete contrast, the Band’s Lament (Peter Graham) and the Choir’s Anthem from Chess were very moving and beautifully delivered pieces. And, who could forget the combined performance of Queen’s Radio Ga Ga and The Jackson’s Don’t Blame it on the Boogie, which concluded a thoroughly enjoyable concert. There may even have been dancing…!
Many thanks to everyone who participated and attended for making this such a lovely event. And a special thanks to Lana Tingay and Dian Winter, the respective conductors of Abergavenny Borough Band and Cantorion Phoenix, for putting together a programme that had something for everyone.
