Crickhowell Community Band – a sparkling performance!

Posted: 3rd July 2023

The Clarence Hall’s Lunch-time Recital Programme is a series of events designed to encourage live music performances in Crickhowell, with an emphasis on accessibility and easy listening.

The series is sponsored by the Clarence Hall for the community.  Admission is free but there is a collection for the Clarence Hall Refurbishment Appeal for those who wish to donate.

This weekend, Crickhowell Community Band took centre stage, with a guest performance from local pianist, Lloyd Jeremiah.

The Community Band were excellent, displaying their array of skills with a very wide repertoire which included jazz, classical and pop.  A particular highlight was a beautiful rendition of Myfanwy, arranged by Jonathan (Barney) Bowden.

The recital also featured solos by band members John Mudd and Barney Bowden, with guest artist Lloyd Jeremiah giving two very accomplished performances of pieces by Debussy and Mozart.  We were fortunate to have the opportunity to listen to Lloyd before he starts University in the Autumn and were delighted that he was able to spare the time to share his talent with us.

We are so grateful to everyone who played with such talent and enthusiasm and for our very appreciative audience who popped in to enjoy the performance.  Our next Lunchtime Recital will be in September – watch this space!
