Dance Beats light up the stage

Posted: 5th February 2026

There’s a particular kind of energy in the air when the lights dim at the Clarence Hall and the stage belongs to young performers.  This week’s showcase from Dance Beats brought exactly that — a simple, pared-back presentation that proved strikingly effective.

Each Tuesday, the hall fills with the buzz of creativity as the various classes gather for their lessons.  Led by Emma Evans, the driving force behind Dance Beats, the sessions offer young people aged four to seventeen the opportunity to build confidence, form friendships and discover the joy of dance.  From contemporary and street to musical theatre, the mix of styles keeps things fresh.

While not a formal show, the evening offered a chance for Dance Beats to share what they’ve been developing in recent weeks.

Dressed simply in black, the dancers let their movement speak for itself.  Vibrant music and bold lighting added colour and atmosphere, with the contrast working beautifully.

Most striking was the growing assurance on stage.  Younger dancers stepped out with determination, older groups performed with increasing precision, and throughout there was a clear sense of teamwork and mutual support.

It was a lovely reminder of what happens here week by week — effort, laughter and steady progress — brought briefly into the spotlight.

Congratulations to Millie and Emma for guiding the group so thoughtfully.  It was a relaxed, confident and thoroughly enjoyable demonstration and a pleasure to see the Hall alive with dance on a February night.

Dance Beats runs during school term time, out of school hours, and always welcomes new faces!
