Everest with Tim Kington

Posted: 8th March 2026

Last night the Clarence Hall welcomed mountaineer Tim Kington and LOWA for a fascinating evening hosted as part of the Crickhowell Walking Festival programme.

Speaking with striking honesty about his experience of climbing Mount Everest, Tim offered a candid insight into what it truly takes to reach the world’s highest summit — and, just as importantly, to return safely. Throughout the evening he spoke openly about the determination, resilience and intense self-discipline required for such an expedition.

The talk was illustrated with a compelling sequence of photographs tracing the journey from base camp all the way to the summit and back again. These images brought the landscape and the physical reality of the climb vividly to life, offering the audience a rare glimpse into an environment few people ever experience first-hand.

What made the evening particularly engaging was Tim’s willingness to answer every question put to him. Nothing was off limits, and his responses combined frank realism with moments of humour that kept the audience thoroughly absorbed throughout.

It was an illuminating and memorable event, and our thanks go to the Crickhowell Walking Festival team for bringing this remarkable talk to the Clarence Hall.
