Festive Fun at the Clarence

Posted: 30th December 2025

The weeks leading up to Christmas — and just beyond — were busy and full of variety at the Clarence Hall, with music, theatre and community events filling the calendar and drawing people together through the festive season.

Celebrations began with Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau’s Christmas Fair and Santa’s Grotto, bringing families into the Hall and shops across the town. With stalls, refreshments and live music throughout the day, the event raised funds for the Bureau’s vital work, alongside its annual Santa Appeal supporting children who might otherwise go without at Christmas.

Music featured strongly throughout December.  Ebbw Valley Brass returned with an atmospheric Christmas concert, joined by the St Mary’s Church in Wales Intergenerational Choir, whose blend of voices added warmth and depth. A Musical Piano Journey into Winter Wonderland followed, with two performances celebrating the commitment and talent of over 100 young pianists aged 5–17, who brought the Hall to life with their creativity and energy.

A well-supported fundraising evening in aid of Cancer Research Wales featured Dowlais Male Choir and soloists, combining a varied seasonal programme with a cause close to many hearts.  A festive lunchtime from Uskulele and Cantorion Phoenix brought a lighter touch, while Abergavenny Borough Band and Gilwern Primary School Choir showcased music-making across generations.

Family theatre added colour with The Night Before Kitschmas, organised by Black Mountains Comedy Festival and featuring Kitsch & Sync Collective, followed by a Community Carol Service with Christ Church Crickhowell.

Just after Christmas, the Hall rounded off the season with a family-friendly afternoon of wrestling with British Kingdom Pro Wrestling, bringing plenty of excitement to close a lively festive run.

It was a full and varied programme, made possible by the many performers, organisers, volunteers and audiences who helped create such a memorable festive season.  A huge thank you to you all!
