Rachmaninov at the Clarence Hall

Posted: 20th February 2026

On Sunday, 22 February, the Clarence Hall will resonate with the sweeping sound of Abergavenny Symphony Orchestra as their 2026 workshop day concludes with an informal play-through of a true Romantic masterpiece.

This year’s focus is Symphony No. 2 by Sergei Rachmaninov — a work overflowing with glorious melodies and rich textures. From its brooding opening to its soaring climaxes, it remains a much-loved part of the orchestral repertoire.

Conducted by Michael Bell MBE, the performance starts at 3.15pm and is open to friends, family and anyone who would like to come along and listen.

If you enjoy powerful, heartfelt music, this promises to be a special way to spend a Sunday afternoon at the Hall!
