Little Shop delivers a thrilling performance
Posted: 16th March 2025Following the success of Grease in 2024, Crickhowell High School returned to the Clarence Hall stage last week with its latest production – the cult classic Little Shop of Horrors. This darkly comedic, sci-fi musical has captivated audiences for over 30 years with its unforgettable songs and quirky storyline and Crickhowell’s talented students delivered a performance worthy of its Broadway and Hollywood legacy.
Written by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken – the creative duo behind The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin – Little Shop of Horrors is a fast-paced, thrilling production packed with toe-tapping tunes, eccentric characters and just a hint of the macabre. The cast embraced every aspect of this, bringing energy, humour and impressive vocal performances to the stage. From the down-on-his-luck Seymour to the ever-demanding Audrey II, each character was brought to life with confidence and charisma.
The production team’s attention to detail shone through, with a set that transported the audience straight to Skid Row. Clever lighting and sound design heightened the drama, while the choreography kept the energy high throughout.
A huge well done to everyone involved for a thoroughly engaging and polished show – Crickhowell High School continues to set the bar high for school productions!
