Musical Tea delights
Posted: 21st October 2024This weekend, the Clarence Hall hosted a delightful Musical Tea, featuring the talented Brecknock Sinfonia Cello Octet. The event was a feast for both the ears and the tastebuds, with the rich, resonant tones of eight cellos filling the hall and a lovely tea enjoyed by all.
The highlight of the performance was undoubtedly the octet’s rendition of Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, a unique fusion of Brazilian folk tunes and Bach-inspired melodies. Former Crickhowell Choral Scholar, the Welsh soprano Áine Smith, joined the ensemble, delivering a breathtaking vocal performance that captivated the audience. Her soaring soprano perfectly complemented the harmonies of the cello octet, making for an unforgettable moment in an afternoon of excellent music, under the baton of Michael Bell, the conductor of Brecknock Sinfonia.
Once again, the Musical Tea at the Clarence Hall proved to be a memorable cultural experience, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating the next one!
