Opera Gala Night

Posted: 18th May 2024

Hot on the heels of its May Music Festival, Crickhowell Choral Society’s summer concert will celebrate the wonderful world of opera at 7pm on Saturday, 29 June at the Clarence Hall.

A night of splendid entertainment awaits with a sequence of spectacular operatic hits that highlight the development of the form from Monteverdi to modern times. The programme will hold many special moments with well-known showstopping choruses from Bizet’s Carmen, Verdi’s La Traviata, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Wagner’s Flying Dutchman, alongside earlier masterpieces by Handel, Gluck and Purcell.

The concert also provides the opportunity to showcase the amazing talents of the Society’s present choral scholars, both as solo singers and instrumentalists. They will perform some well-known arias and works for strings and piano to complement the concert’s dramatic theme.

This delightful programme is sure to provide the perfect accompaniment to a summer’s evening.

All proceeds will go to South Powys Youth Music.
