The Haunting of Soddington Hall

Event Date: 25/06/2026

Theatre AdHoc return to the Clarence Hall on Thursday, 25 June, with their latest comedy, The Haunting of Soddington Hall — a delightfully mischievous tale of faded grandeur, desperate schemes and spectral uncertainty.

Generations of earls have gambled away the Soddington fortune, leaving the once-imposing mansion in alarming disrepair. The responsibility now falls to Oswald, the 42nd earl — a man who would much rather enjoy a quiet cup of tea than mastermind a financial rescue. With encouragement from his wife Cressida and some unexpected advice, he hits upon a bold solution: open the crumbling Hall to fee-paying ghost hunters. There is just one small problem — no one has ever seen a ghost there.

As Oswald tries to keep his wife happy, rally his reluctant son and fend off looming demolition, matters are complicated by a glamorous sister with awkward questions, an overconfident psychic investigator armed with the latest equipment, a would-be clairvoyant who struggles to connect with anyone and a butler with a fondness for the brandy. And as for the twins… sometimes the living are far more unsettling than the dead.

Expect sharp wit, theatrical flair and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments as Theatre AdHoc bring this spirited comedy to life.
