Ghostly Goings-On with Theatre AdHoc

Posted: 8th June 2026

Theatre AdHoc return to the Clarence Hall on Thursday, 25 June with their latest comedy, The Haunting of Soddington Hall.

Known for their lively productions and sharp comic timing, the company are back with a delightfully chaotic tale of faded aristocracy, financial desperation and possible paranormal activity.

At the centre of the story is Oswald, the 42nd Earl of Soddington, who inherits not only a title but also a crumbling country house and a long history of family extravagance. With the estate facing an uncertain future, he is persuaded to try an unconventional rescue plan: opening Soddington Hall to ghost hunters in the hope that rumours of supernatural activity might bring in much-needed income.

The only difficulty is that nobody has ever actually seen a ghost.

What follows is a whirlwind of misunderstandings, eccentric characters and increasingly improbable situations. From rival psychics and would-be clairvoyants to family tensions, hidden agendas and a butler with a weakness for the brandy, the production promises plenty of laughter as events spiral further and further out of control.

Theatre AdHoc have built a strong following across the region for their entertaining productions, and audiences can expect another evening of humour, memorable characters and theatrical fun.

The Haunting of Soddington Hall comes to the Clarence Hall on Thursday, 25 June at 7pm.
