Winter at the Clarence

Posted: 6th January 2026

2026 is shaping up to be another excellent year for the Clarence Hall, with plenty of reasons to come through the door!

Early highlights in January include Rareseed Theatre’s In the Bleak Midwinter, followed later in the month by pantomime favourite Treasure Island from Crickhowell & District Players. The Hall also hosts two already sold-out events for this year’s Black Mountains Comedy Festival, bringing laughter to Crickhowell!

February continues at a lively pace. Theatre Adhoc is back with Agatha Christie’s Black Coffee, alongside an adult evening show from Baby Darling and a high-energy visit from Hayseed Dixie presented by Global Promotions. Family-friendly wrestling makes a return, offering a daytime event that appeals across the generations. The month also features a Health Board drop-in session, as well as Abergavenny Symphony Orchestra’s Come and Play Rachmaninov workshop.

Crickhowell Walking Festival kicks off in early March with a talk on Everest, with LOWA and Tim Kington.

In addition to these one-off events, the Hall remains busy day in, day out.  Cantorion Phoenix rehearsals, Dance Beats classes and monthly Bingo nights continue, as well as meetings of the U3A, Crickhowell Garden Society, Meal with a Message get-togethers hosted by Christ Church Crickhowell, ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and our regular Rug Sales.

Crickhowell Volunteer Bureau resume their weekly activities after the Christmas break, including Chess Club, Time to Reminisce, Knit & Natter, The Painting Room, Neck & Shoulder Massage, Bowls Club, Line Dancing classes on Mondays and Wednesdays and a fortnightly Luncheon Club.
